Ancient Death was formed in the summer of 2019 in Walpole, MA by Jasmine Alexander on bass/vocals, Ray Brouwer (Matriphagy) on guitar, and Jerry Witunsky (Atheist) on guitar/vocals, soon followed by Derek Malone Moniz (Churchburn, Cruciamentum) on drums. Blending progressive and technical elements with lush atmospheres, Ancient Death creates a unique soundscape of introspective, thought-provoking death metal. With the “Sacred Vessel” EP in 2022, the split single “Glowing Auras” in 2023, and “Demo 2024”, the band has continued to expand and push the envelope of the Ancient Death sound with the release of "Ego Dissolution” (2025; Profound Lore Records). "Ego Dissolution" showcases Ancient Death at their most fierce and creative sound thus far, further expanding on the atmospheres and moods of their inner and outer worlds.
